Above is a complete list of nominated and spare birds in the Bundy 500. The list also shows any birds lost when we fitted the electronic rings in early August. We are now tossing from Tannum Sands a distance of approximately 95 air miles. Jacky will forward an updated list in the near future showing further losses.

Loft Diary - updated weekly

The Loft Manager's are Geoff and Jacky Hunt.

Geoff is also an organiser.

Our race, as the name implies, is to be flown over a distance of 507 miles from Giru (Townsville) to Bundaberg.

Only seven months left until the big race. We have 142 entrants in the race. The last entrants were placed in the loft on the last day in January. Birds are in excellent condition, all coming through the moult nicely. Some of the early entrants have only one flight to moult. All birds have recovered from the pigeon pox vaccination. We have only lost one entry so far around the loft, which is an excellent result, and an indication of the quality of care the birds are in.

We have secured the services of Dr Colin Walker as the loft vet, he will be advising and monitoring the health of the team. Thanks very much to Colin Walker.

Benzing and Kevin Clarke is the main sponsor of the loft supplying the electronic trapping system. We are hoping to have a charity race from one of the Gladstone Lead-up races. We will inform everyone how it will be run at a later date.

Since 2009 we have decided to allow fliers to provide one spare entry at a cost of $20. The spare will be activated upon the loss of the main entrant, or for the cost of $80 if the main entrant is still there, fit for the main race. Exact details will be on next years' entry sheet, which will be available in September this year.

I would imagine everyone is like me and can't wait to see who has the toughest one loft pigeon in Australia. This race is something that has been lacking in Australia for a long time a race for the true tough Aussie birds. BRING IT ON.

Some of the the birds.

Don't they look great!!!
